MOUNT DRUITT LEARNING GROUND

Is a unique place for young people and their families to make strong learning experiences together. Built on the principles of each one - teach one where people feel safe and welcome.
Learning Ground operates on a school year timetable and is offered particularly to those experiencing difficulties in school retention. Learning is based on Aboriginal traditional and contemporary knowledge and that of linguistically diverse communities. Volunteer mentors work one on one with families. Over 60 families participate in the programme throughout the year.

ENABLERS LEADERSHIP COURSE (12 Hour Programme)
Is offered twice per year at Mount Druitt Learning Ground. For men and women who would like to take stronger leadership roles in their families, at work, within local community, church groups, or other areas of engagement.
No formal education is required, only the desire to have greater success in life. The programme addresses skills in understanding ones self and developing good listening, communication, leadership and decision making techniques for building a safe and engaged environment.

Programme runs from 10.15am - 2.00pm. Morning tea and lunch provided.

ENABLERS TRAIN-THE-TRAINER PROGRAMME

FAMILY LIFE PROGRAMME - 2012
Sponsored by DEEWR (Australian Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations)
In 2011 Chain Reaction Foundation, in collaboration with The Parent Practice introduced a programme for parents, grandparents and child carers.
The programme is primarily offered to Aboriginal Parents or carers of Aboriginal children. It is offered 3 times per year in blocks of 6 week sessions, each session consisting of approx. 3 hours. Morning tea and lunch will be provided.
The programme is offered out of Mount Druitt Learning Ground.
It covers five areas of interest to family members;
- Encouraging co-operation and confidence in children
- Managing emotions and improving communication especially in considering technology issues,
- Setting up for success within the family
- Rules, routines and rewards for tweens and teens
- Positive Discipline now and for the future

BREAKFAST CAFE PROGRAMME
A bi-monthly conversation over breakfast addressing the concept of Social Inclusion in a variety of ways. Breakfasts are conducted in Melbourne and Sydney at KPMG offices and attended by community, business and government leaders.
