School behaviour program Learning Ground is turning lives around but fighting for funding
Learning Ground alumni Maddison-Lilly Mae Jackson and Kayla Lee McLean were recently interviewed by Declan Bowring from ABC Radio Sydney.
Maddison and Kayla spoke of the impact Learning Ground had in developing their ability to make positive choices and how being in the space helped them better understand themselves and re-engage in school.
Executive Director Rumbi Mabambe commented
"We have a homegrown solution, grown in Mount Druitt…..It's grown out of one of the toughest areas in Australia … and it's impacting young people's lives.”
Learning Ground has welcomed over 1,500 students in the last 10 years and has been academically proven to build emotional literacy and better self-image for young people. Students are developing a ‘can do’ belief in themselves to re-engage in learning.
From everyone at Learning Ground, we thank Kayla and Maddison for sharing their stories and look forward to seeing them continue to grow into the amazing women they are.
