Top Tips For Parents - Mt Druitt

by | August 23, 2005

A Two-Day workshop was held for local parents at the Uniting Church Centre, Bidwill last week.

Melissa Hood, from The Parent Practice UK, held the seminar on How To Be A Calmer, Happier Parent.

Organiser Margaret Bell from the Chain Reaction Foundation said that the workshop focused on effective methods for parents to get children to do what they wanted them to do.

Melissa focused on descriptive praise, describing what the child did correctly to reinforce what is good and what is bad,?she said.

Mrs Bell said that getting Melissa Hood to conduct the workshop was a great bonus.

This was the only seminar that Melissa was conducting while in Australia, she said. She has a great deal of experience to offer as a family therapist coming from a legal background.

About 30 local parents attended over the two days.
