Chain Reaction Foundation Ltd

Commitment to Australia's First Nations

Chain Reaction Foundation acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples as the First Nations of Australia and the Traditional Owners of the lands on which we live. We pay respect to their Elders past, present and future. We acknowledge and recognise the ongoing grief and loss from dislocation, from the removal of their children and from the loss of life and freedom. We recognise their strength and resilience and support their efforts to preserve Aboriginal Culture, the oldest living culture in the world.

Learning Ground
Chain Reaction Foundation (CRF) is a civil society organisation and a not-for-profit public company limited by guarantee governed by a Board of Directors with a small highly trained operating staff.

Holding the Learning Ground banner

The program is based on a methodology developed and delivered in Mt Druitt, New South Wales since 2006. Learning Ground was developed and established through a participatory process with local community leaders, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal to meet the needs of young people in the Mt Druitt area who were experiencing behavioural difficulties that led to them being disenfranchised from school and from community.

Since inception, Learning Ground has continued to evolve through a participatory process. In 2016, Learning Ground Program was researched and evaluated by Western Sydney University who identified Learning Ground as a program that fosters capacity building and development of social and emotional competencies. The evaluation found the program to:

  • enhance the lives of highly disadvantaged young adolescents
  • equip adolescents with critical behavioural skills to engage in education
  • create better futures for disadvantaged adolescents, their families and their communities.
