IAVE World Volunteer Conference 2014 Feedback

by | October 1, 2014

October 2014

Congratulations continue to pour in to Volunteering Australia and partner organisations Chain Reaction, National Congress for Australia's First Peoples, Philanthropy Australia, and Foundation for Young Australians in response to the IAVE Conference. What a wonderful opportunity for leaders in volunteering to share information and gain new skills.

The only measure of disappointment came from the fact that it was almost impossible to get corporate support for the event and had that not been the case we would have been able to offer many more volunteering leaders from all over Australia an opportunity to attend this invaluable event.

Chain Reaction Foundation is most appreciative that the Project Officer and two volunteer leaders from Mt Druitt Learning Ground were given the opportunity to attend the Conference with the support of both Chain Reaction and the local Federal Member for Chifley Hon. Ed Husic.

Further government grants for the Conference were made available through Commonwealth Attorney-General's Department, and Department of Social Services. Scholarships for overseas participants were provided by DFAT, and also from Tourist Events Queensland. It was disappointing not to receive any contributions from State Governments other than Queensland.
